"Terry Fox Rocks!" Is what we chanted as we walked for Terry this morning. We were so proud of how the children embraced this experience with open-minds. Our walk was a great success!

We are encouraging the children to do one good deed a day within our classroom. We read this book today; it helped explain what a good deed is. When we see a friend doing something nice for someone, they get to turn on their candle. Can we get all our candles lit!?We had a lot of friends looking for opportunities today to do or say something nice to a peer. Ask your child if their candle gets lit during the day 😉

• A reminder to hand in Terry Fox walk permission forms by tomorrow please. We'll be walking around the school yard Thursday in honour of our great Canadian hero. The children have been introduced to Terry Fox this week with stories, video clips and large group discussions.
Question of the day...
How many teddy bears does your apple weigh?

It's apple exploration week in our class. We will be scientists; predicting, measuring, taste testing, using our senses, etc to explore apples!

We had our first fire drill today. The children did an amazing job stopping what they were doing, quietly lining up and exiting the building. Good job kids, proud of you!
We also discussed who Terry Fox is, why he is an important Canadian hero, and how we will be doing a walk for him.

We chopped, measured, mixed and heated our ingredients to make some yummy applesauce today. The children did an excellent job describing our ingredients using their senses; touch, sight, smell and taste. Ask your child if they remember the ONE thing that turned our apples from hard to soft.

Today we had fun learning about the letter 'A'. Ask your child what sound the letter 'A' makes and if they remember the song too!

We observed and discussed pictures of monarch butterflies before we began painting.
"They are orange," C said.
"And there's a little bit of yellow," J pointed out.
"And black and white dots." R added.
"And don't forget the antenna's!" C exclaimed.
...great little observers...and artists!

Ask your child what we did with our butterflies today...
We started to make some beautiful monarch butterflies. Can't wait to see the finished products as we paint them orange tomorrow. So far the outlines look amazing!

As we walked in the school this morning, one of our little friends took notice of a picture of Jesus on the wall in the hall. She spoke aloud, "Oh that's where God lives, in the forest." Another child heard her comment and asked, "Where does God live?" and with that, we began our morning and this conversation...
