5 Little snowmen! This simple poem has been popular in the room as we sing it with actions as a large group, as well as children finding it during centre time and saying by themselves or with their peers. Ask your child if they can recite it for you!

*Special Visitor Coming!**
This Thursday we will welcome Katie Birtch (Violet's Mother), to our class to share with the children information about her job as a Veterinarian Technician! Katie will be bringing in a therapy dog with her. Katie has done job fairs about her job before and informed us the therapy dog, 'Bohdi' has been around crowds and is used to the setting. A letter will go home about this special visit this week. If you have ANY concerns about your child and being around a dog let us know please! I assure you, we have the utmost empathy/compassion for children who may not like dogs or not like to be around them and each child's feelings will be taken into consideration during this time. So far, they seem to be excited!

The classroom 'Pet Clinc' is a hit. Tons of learning through play: turn taking in the now 'waiting room' for our busy clinic, as well as when they converse with one another in the 'doctor/patient/owner' roles. Conversations flowing, curiosities rising as books are now incorporated at the centre, and new materials added daily.

Who knew you could turn the word "dog" INTO a picture of a dog! ...Can you spot the word and the dog in these drawings?

Today we implemented some of the children's "Pet Shop/Clinic" ideas in the dramatic play centre. They were busy role playing vets, secretaries, and customers with 'unhealthy' pets. 'Doctor's' went through animal check lists to see what part of the animal was sick/hurt and the secretaries took 'notes' on their computers!

We need your help! To further extend their play ideas we need the following supplies for our pet shop/clinic:
- syringes
- empty pet food bags/boxes
- shoe boxes (we will turn these into bird cages)
- dog/cat food bowls
Thanks!
Also, if anyone knows anyone who is a veterinarian and would like to come in and talk to the children about their job let us know, we'd love to set that up, thanks!
Some children chose to make paper bag puppies...
Labelling the shelves so their pets have a comfortable home. The children used these labels to sort/organize the stuffed toys and to help them spell out the animal names if they played the role of the doctor.
We made a pet shop sign for our clinic/shop as well. Some children used step-by-step drawing instructions to try and draw pictures of dogs and cats, others problem solved and discovered the ability to trace pictures through the paper.

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday. It was so nice to see those little faces again and get back into the swing of things!

A pokémon interest can be easily turned into a learning centre with step-by-step drawing instructions and personalized booklets that have the characters names written in it.
Observing, making conclusions and drawing a detailed picture about a container of melted snow. Maybe now they won't eat it!!?
The children are encouraged to take a "letter wand" and search for the letter in their books.
A few children decided they'd like to change our 'house centre' into a 'pet shop/clinic'. They were quick to brainstorm ideas and write them down.
