Today we had our first ever Holy Cross Crusador & W.I.T.S award ceremony. Once a month we will have a quick ceremony to present two children who have earned an award. Congratulations to Maggie for winning the "Perseverance Crusador Award" and to Jaxon for winning the "W.I.T.S Award"!
It was a bitter sweet day today saying goodbye to Miss Hughes but getting ready to welcome back Mrs.Pucci tomorrow. A big Thank you to Miss Hughes who helped teach and care for the children; big shoes to fill and she did an absolute great job.
The children made a good bye card for Miss Hughes and a 'welcome back' sign for Mrs.Pucci.
It was so nice to meet up with you all tonight and touch base about your child's growth and development at school. Thank you for your time and our door is always open for you.

Sorting good/poor actions out during a class discussion about using our 'WITS'.

We began our day watching a couple of videos about volcanoes, discussing what they looked like, how lava creates new land as it hardens, and watched as they erupted. We then turned our attention to our paper mâché volcano and painted it. A lot of anticipation in the room for tomorrow's science experiment- erupting our volcano! 🌋

Some of our friends worked extremely hard to write out a "Rock Recipe" so we could follow instructions on how to make our OWN rocks! Using gravel, sand, water, sugar and our recipe, we commenced our rock-making experiment.
*Reminder: Thursday is "career day." Come to school dressed up as what you want to be when you grow up!
Also, this week is anti-bullying week at school. We talked about WITS; what it is and when we would use our wits. Ask your child if they remember what each letter of wits stands for. We also have "caring tickets" to hand out to our friends if we catch them caring! We will do a couple of other activities around this anti-bullying theme this week too; i.e good/bad choice chart/discussion and reading/acting out the "Good Samaratan" story from the children's bible.

Lots of excitement surrounding our volcano-making! They helped with the ripping strips of paper, mixing the ingredients to make the paper mâché paste, and then creating the volcano shape. Ask your child if they remember the next few steps that we will do over the next couple of days...

We read a great story about the many kinds of rocks anyone can find. Ask your child if they remember what characteristics determine what kind of rock it is...
Weighing and comparing their rock with classroom items.
Morning attendance.
Crafting and writing our names.
"Touch of Fall" They reached in the bag without looking and had to guess the fall item using their sense of touch. 🍃

We read a children's story that described what peace may feel, taste, sound and look like. We also did some peaceful yoga poses. We asked "What does peace mean to you?" And these are their beautiful answers.

A spontaneous 'video-game-like' game was created during centre time. Each 'player' begins with 5 lives, If you step in the "crocodile water" you lose a life, if you balance yourself on 10 "lily pads" in a row you get a "life" back! ...Always a blast in kindergarten!

A little girl saw the door and said, "It looks like the field!" (After having learned about Flanders field).
A great way to further develop number recognition, turn taking, language skills and many more areas of development ...Go Fish & Crazy 8's!

Exploring our alphabet/names in many ways...
Learning about rocks. We sorted our rock collection "big/medium/small". We read one book about where rocks come from, what they're made of, and where they are around us in our world. Ask your child if they remember the 'ingredients' that rocks are made of 😉.
Another story we read was about ten rules on how to pick the best rock. One rule was to smell it to see where it came from. It also stated adults were not good at smelling rocks! Miss Morey had to get them to tell her what our rocks smelt like!
